HC rejects anticipatory bail plea of 'Attack' Pandi

The Madras High Court court today rejected the anicipatory bail plea of 'Attack' Pandi, allegedly involved in the murder of an aide of former Union Minister M K Alagiri, saying an outlaw was not entitled to the relief.
Taking into consideration the gravity of the allegations against the petitioner and also the fact that he had been declared a proclaimed offender, the court was not inclined to give anticipatory bail, Justice P.N.Prakash said.
The court said according to the prosecution, the petitioner had masterminded the elimination of Suresh Babu, political PA of Alagiri.
The case diary also showed that there was sufficient materials for disclosing the involvement of the petitioner in the planned murder. The court did not want to disclose the materials in the case diary at this juncture as it would hamper the course of investigation, the judge said.

The confession of the arrested accused clearly implicated the petitioner in the offence. Besides, the final report in the murder case reported on January 31, 2013 had not been filed.
The petitioner cannot make wild assertions without supporting materials and attempt creating a red herring in the case, the judge said.
The prosecution had initiated proclamation proceedings before the judicial magistrate and the magistrate had concluded that it was a fit case to order for proclamation in respect of the petitioner as he was an absconder. There were 15 criminal cases pending against the petitioner.
This was the fourth anticipatory bail filed by Pandi who was associated with Alagiri earlier.
