The Delhi High Court today reserved its order on the maintainability of a plea seeking a CBI probe into the admission process of UP-based Santosh Medical College.
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice R S Endlaw, which did not issue a notice on the petition by a journalist, however, said during the brief hearing that "the PIL does not inspire confidence as it is directed against only one person."
The counsel for petitioner Niloo Ranjan Kumar, however, said that he has a very strong case.
Kumar in his plea, filed through Muneesh Malhotra, has sought derecognition of the medical college saying that it has not followed the basic eligibility criteria while admitting students.
He has alleged that the college admitted a student into its MBBS course who had failed in her 12th class exams and later Medical Council of India enrolled her in its medical register.
He has contended that despite his complaints to the police, no action has been taken against the college till date.
Seeking appointment of a committee to supervise the admission process in all private medical colleges, Kumar has said admitting students who do not conform to the basic eligibility criteria just for the sake of high capitation fees will adversely affect medical education in the country and would also amount to risking the life of patients.
