The Madras High Court today passed interim orders restraining the newly elected office-bearers of the Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council from taking any policy or administrative decisions till further orders.
"No policy decision or major administrative decisions will be taken by the newly elected members whose election is under challenge until further orders of this Court. They cannot claim any right on the basis of any administrative action taken so far," Justice R Sudhakar said, passing interim orders on a civil Suit filed by producer S Thanu.
The judge directed that the matter be listed on September 27 for further hearing.
Thanu, who listed various malpractices that allegedly occurred in the elections, said it was on his representation that early elections were held under supervision of former High Court Judges.
He alleged that even though violations were brought to the notice of the Judge-Commissioners nothing was done to disqualify them.
He also contended that in utter violation of rules some contesting candidates inserted advertisements in news paper carrying pictures of the Chief Minister as if to give an impression to voters that those who vote against them will be voting against the state government itself.
The polling venue and roads leading to it were full of advertisements by winning candidates, in utter violation of the poll code, he charged and prayed to quash the election as illegal.
