HC restrains PTDC from new appointments till conciliation is

The Madras High Court today directed the Puducherry Tourism Development Corporation not to appoint any one during the pendency of the industrial dispute of the employees working under daily wages, till a decision was arrived at on the matter after conciliation.
Justice T Raja gave the direction on a petition by Puducherry Sutrula Valarchi Kazhaga Thginakkoli Uzhiyargal Nala Sangam on the matter.
The petitioner's Union represents various daily wages employees from the years 2013,2014 and 2015.
They were paid at the rate of Rs 200 per day.
While so the members of the above Union were asked not to work from August 17, 2016.
The members approached the Labour Officer and raised an Industrial Dispute which is pending for conciliation.
The Union contended that the Corporation instead of settling the issue, started employing some others following which they approached the Court seeking to restrain from appointing any others when the conciliation proceedings were pending.
