The Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday revoked the expulsion of eight students of GB Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, allowing them to enrol for the next semester.
The order on their expulsion was quashed by Justice Sudhanshu Dhuliya on the ground that it was signed by the Registrar and not the Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The students of the third and fourth semesters of B.Tech electronic engineering were expelled for six months from the university at Pantnagar in Udham Singh Nagar for obtaining fake 'out' passes to go out of the campus.
The petitioners had contended that the Registrar did not have jurisdiction to pass the order.
Tomorrow being the last date for submission of admission forms, the students may now seek admission in the next semester.
