The division bench of Chief Justice P C Tatia and Justice Jaya Rai also asked the government to take action against such officers and issue sanctions for prosecution against those facing FIRs on various charges.

The court directed the state to produce before it all details on the points raised by the PIL on the next date of hearing in December.

The PIL was filed by Citizen's Cause, Ranchi, which alleged that the state had not taken proper action against government servants despite absenting for many months and years.

It also sought a direction to the government to sanction prosecutions against government employees facing FIRs in various cases.

The bench observed that employees staying off from duty month without information should be taken as absconding.

It further observed that proper notifications and publications should be made, so that if any employee did not appear on duty should be declared absconding.
