The Calcutta High Court today sought from the West Bengal CID its probe status report on unnatural death of the presiding officer of a polling station during the state panchayat elections.
A bench of Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty sought the CID's probe report by July 13 on the unnatural death of Raj Kumar Roy on a plea by his mother Ananya Roy seeking a CBI investigation into his son's death.
Roy's mother has also prayed for a fresh autopsy of her deceased son.
Refuting Roy's charges of "lax investigation" into her son's death, the state Standing Counsel Amitesh Banerjee said it was wrong, adding that proper investigation was being carried out by the CID.
Roy had died under unnatural circumstances on the day of polling on May 14 at Raiganj in North Dinajpur district.
His body was found beside a railway tracks in the evening after he left the polling station, Ananya Roy's counsel Uday Shankar Chatterjee told the court.
