HC seeks response of Delhi govt, school on student's plea under EWS category

The Delhi High Court today sought response of a private school and the state government on a plea of a student seeking continuation of her studies in that school under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.

Justice Rekha Palli sought reply of the school in Rohini and the Delhi government after the VIII standard student alleged that she was not allowed to continue studies under EWS category despite providing necessary documents.

The court listed the matter for further hearing on July 13.

The student alleged that the school's action was violative of her fundamental right to education.

Advocate Ashok Agarwal, appearing for the girl child, sought direction to the school to allow her to continue her studies in one its branches in Rohini in class IX under EWS category.

The plea also sought direction to Delhi government to take action against the school for not allowing the girl to continue her studies there.
