HC slaps fine on Congress leader
Press Trust of India Cuttack The Orissa High court today slapped a fine of Rs 5000 on former MLA and Congress leader Surendra Singhbhoi for failing to present his witnesses in the court for examination in a poll-related petition in which he has challenged the election of Titlagarh BJD MLA Tukuni Sahu.
Taking strong exception to unnecessary adjournments by litigants in poll-related cases, Justice Biswanath Rath fined the Congress leader for a second time.
In November last year, Justice Rath had slapped a fine of Rs 2000 on Singhbhoi as he had failed to submit the draft issue of his petition in time.
