The stay was granted by Justices Abhay Oka and S S Jadhav yesterday on a petition filed by Balaji Telefilms Ltd and its two directors, who sought quashing of the case filed by lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui in Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

The petition of Balaji Telefilms has been admitted by the High Court and posted for hearing on October 31.

The petition had challenged the order of the Andheri Magistrate who, on November 8, 2011, had issued process against the production firm and its two directors for allegedly committing an offence under section 415 (cheating) of IPC by not paying fees to the lawyer.

Siddiqui had filed a complaint in the Andheri court in 2010, alleging that he had not been paid Rs 30,000 professional fees for services rendered with regard to certain agreements for Balaji Motion Pictures' film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai'.
