The eleventh hour alteration made by the Tamil Nadu Government in a recruitment notification to fill 157 vacancies of Sericulture Inspectors was stayed by Madras High Court today.
Justice D Hariparanthaman, while passing orders on a batch of petitions, restrained the authorities from going ahead with the recruitment process any further.
The Judge, granting interim injunction, however, made it clear that the order would not prevent the authorities of Sericulture Department from withdrawing the corrected portion of the original job notification.
The matter relates to the May 9, notification issued by the department calling for applications to the post of Junior Inspector of Sericulture stipulating that the candidates should have six months of practical experience in sericulture or successful completion of six months training for undergraduates at Sericulture Training School, Hosur.
On May 16, 2015, however, a corrigendum was issued doing away with the requirement for six month experience or training.
Challenging the corrigendum, a group of candidates who possess valid qualifications filed a petition contending that a similar attempt made last year too was set aside by the High Court.
During that round of litigation last year, government submitted that it had been mentioned that by mistake that the department would impart training after appointment, the petitioners said.
