The Delhi High Court today asked the city government, the RBI and investigating agencies to frame guidelines to probe cases of ATM frauds in the national capital.
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar directed the Delhi Police, the CBI, the RBI and the Delhi government to evolve a policy if possible on a plea which, besides the policy, seeks transfer of such cases to the economic offences wing of the city police.
It disposed of the public interest litigation (PIL) asking these authorities and agencies to consider it as a representation.
The petition filed through advocates Kamlesh Kumar Mishra claimed that culprits of ATM frauds were not nabbed even though such crimes were occuring repeatedly at the same ATMs.
"Several gangs must be operating because of which similar incidents keep happening in the same ATM time and again. But because of lack of coordination even among the investigation officers within the same police station, the real culprits are not being nabbed," said the petition filed by north Delhi resident Pravesh, who claims to be a private investigator.
