It will start tomorrow with a function in the university's administrative building.
A committee of faculty members, students and non-teaching staff would plan the activities to be held through out the year.
"During the next one year the university proposes to organise several activities to increase awareness about Ambedkar's contribution to the welfare of society and humanity, in particular his vision of industrialisation to generate employment for the poor and deprived sections of the Indian society," an HCU release said.
HCU, also known as University of Hyderabad, has been at the centre of a controversy since the suicide of Dalit research scholar Rohit Vemula in January, with the students demanding removal of the vice-chancellor Appa Rao Podile.
