Chavan, whose creations have been donned by the likes of popstar Lady Gaga and has also worked with some leading global designers, showcased headwear during her recent show at the Lakme Fashion Week.
"The biggest fashion accessory of the future is going to be hair," says the designer who creates distinctive hats and other headgear fashioned out of ordinary materials like plastic, rubber, metal etc. She draws her inspiration from the streets of her favourite city Mumbai.
At her LFW show, Chavan handed out special limited edition leather headbands to over a dozen visitors.
"Shilpa is popular for her accessories. People buy from her and then decide on their outfit. We want the focus to be first on hair so we decided to team up with her," says Shailesh Moolya, Creative Director, Lakme Salon.
