The case was registered against the then Medical Superintendent of district Hospital Baramulla, Mohammad Shafi Nanda, and the then Cashier Ghulam, Mohammad Wani, after a verification proved the allegations that during the year 2010-11 they purchased various items from the local market without fulfilling codal formalities, a spokesman of the SVO said.
He said five beneficiary suppliers - M/s Surgical Face Corner New Colony Sopore, M/s Madina X-Ray Hospital Road Baramulla, M/s Muneer Medical Agency Hospital Road Baramulla, M/s Suhail Enterprieses and M/s Mass Agencies Baramulla - were also named in the FIR.
The purchases worked out on the basis of difference between the rate of provincial Medical Store Barzulla and the rate of procurement from open market fixed in the 'dasti quotations'.
"In this way the accused Public servants have intentionally by way of misusing their official positions, put the State exchequer to huge loss," he said.
The charge sheet was filed against the then Patwari of Halqa (area) Asnoor in Damhal Hanjipora in the court of Additional Anti-Corruption Judge Anantnag Rajiv Gupta yesterday, he said.
"The investigation of the case (against Patwari) was concluded as proved and after the government accord sanction for launching prosecution against the accused person, the challan of the case was produced before the Special Anti-Corruption court in presence of the accused who was released on bail. The next date of the case has been fixed on December 21," the spokesman said.
