Heat wave claims fourth life in Ahmedabad

The heat wave in Gujarat has claimed the life of one more person, taking the total number of deaths in the city to four this month.
"A 36-year-old man from Isanpur area in the city died due to heat-stroke yesterday, while he was undergoing treatment in civic body-run Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital here," Bhavin Solanki, in-charge Heatlh Officer of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said.
Earlier, three persons had died due to heat-stroke in the city and with today's death the total number is now four, added Solanki.
Meanwhile, the state Meteorological Centre said, the maximum temperature in the city was 42.4 degree Celsius today and many other towns in Gujarat recorded temperature over 42 degrees today.
Amreli of Saurashtra region was the hottest in the state, where mercury touched 43.3 degrees Celsius, followed by Rajkot at 42.8.
The temperature in other towns in Saurashtra was Surendranagar (42.7) and Bhavnagar (40.3) recorded high temprature.
State capital Gandhinagar recorded 42.5 degrees temperature, while the mercury hit 41.5 degrees in Vadodara. It soared to 42.2 degrees in Idar and 41.0 in Deesa of North Gujarat.
According to the state Meteorological Centre, the condition would remain the same over the next couple of days.
