The mercury level fell below 40 degrees Celsius in the coastal districts but there was little respite from the discomfort level.
In the industrial town of Titlagarh, falling under western region, the place remained the hottest for two consecutive days with the mercury level touching 47 degrees Celsius against yesterday's temperature of 47.6 degrees Celsius.
In the state capital of Bhubaneswar, the temperature was 38.9 degrees Celsius as against 45.4 degrees Celsius on Monday, the official said.
The western Odisha towns which recorded high temperature were: Bhawanipatna (46), Balangir (45), Sonepur (44.8), Sambalpur (44.6), Hirakud (43.5), Jharsguda (43) and Sundergarh (42).

As many as 12 towns in the state recorded temperature above 40 degrees Celsius.
The state's Special Relief Commissioner's (SRC) office has confirmed 11 deaths due to the heat related incidents.
A total of 21 other deaths were found to be due to other reasons while 60 cases are under investigation by District Collectors, a statement issued by the SRC said.
The MeT office, for the first time in a fortnight period, issued warning on thundershower and hailstrorm instead of heat wave tomorrow but again predicted another spell of heatwave from Friday.
