Heat wave continued to sweep Haryana and Punjab today with temperatures again crossing a few notches above normal but the MeT Department has predicted relief from tomorrow evening with possibility of rain or thundershowers at few places in the region.
Chandigarh had a hot day registering a maximum temperature of 41.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
In Haryana, Ambala (41.6 C), Hisar (43.3 C) and Bhiwani (42.8 C) recorded above normal maximums today as sweltering conditions continued to prevail in the state.
In Punjab, Amritsar had a hot day at 42.2 degree C, up two notches while Ludhiana, too, experienced hot weather at 42.5 degree C. Patiala recorded a maximum of 42.4 degree C.
A MeT official said here that from tomorrow evening people can expect some relief from the blistering heat wave.
"A weather system is building up over the region. Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places in Haryana and Punjab from tomorrow evening and the temperatures are likely to fall by over two degrees," he said.
