Allahabad was followed by Varanasi, where the maximum temperature was recorded as 42.4 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, the MeT Department said here.
Fatehgarh and Lucknow experienced a hot day with maximum temperatures settling at 42 and 41.8 degrees Celsius respectively, it said.
The day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Allahabad, Bareilly and Lucknow divisions and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.
Maharajganj and Bhinga received 2 centimetres of rainfall each, while Moradabad, Orai and Agra received one centimetres of rainfall each, the weatherman said.
