As western Odisha reeled under intense heat wave, the day temperature rose to 45.8 degree celsius in Sambalpur followed by 45.7 degree at Jharsuguda and 45.5 degree celsius in both Titlagarh and Bhawanipatna.
Similarly, the maximum temperature at Hirakud touched 45.4 degree celsius, while it was 45.2 degree in Sonepur and 45 degree celsius in Sundargarh, the meteorological centre here said.
In the state capital Bhubaneswar, the maximum temperature was recorded at 40 degree celsius, the met office said adding heat wave conditions were likely to prevail for the next two days.
