Normal life was thrown out of gear in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana today as heat wave conditions prevailed in both the states and mercury in some parts touched 46 degree Celsius mark.
Temperatures were way above the normal level at several places in the two states.
The highest maximum temperature of 46 degrees was recorded at Nalgonda and Ramangundam in Telangana yesterday, according to a report from the Met office.
Temperatures rose due to winds blowing from Rajasthan and mercury levels are likely to rise further in the next couple of days, Met officials said.
Searing heat conditions forced people to stay indoors and busy roads in several towns in the two states wore a deserted look by afternoon.
The Disaster Management Department of Telagnana issued a list of dos and don'ts for people to protect themselves from heat strokes.
