Heatwave: Schools closed in East Godavari

Educational institutions in East Godavari district have been closed today following severe heatwave conditions, a senior official said.
"On the directions of Collector Neetu Prasad, all schools including aided, private and government schools in the district will remain closed today in view of prevailing heat wave conditions in the district," East Godavari district Educational Officer K V Srinivasa Reddy in a statement.
Stringent action will be initiated against schools which do not follow the order, the statement said.
The Collector said in a statement that all precautionary measures are being taken in view of the heat wave conditions in the district and people have been advised not to go out of their homes.
"The district administration's main aim is to protect the people from heat wave...We are taking all steps in this regard," Prasad said adding that the concerned officials were monitoring the situation and collecting data regarding sunstroke affected persons and death, if any, caused due to heat wave.
The MeT office has said heat wave conditions would prevail at isolated places over Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next three days.
Yesterday, maximum temperature were above normal by 5-7 degree C at few places over Coastal AP. Rentachintala recorded 43.8 degree C, Tuni and Bapatla 42.3 degree C, while Visakhapatnam and Kakinada recorded 42 degree C.
