The national capital witnessed a severe hot and dry day with the maximum temperature settling at 42.7 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal. The minimum was recorded a notch below the season's average at 24.5 degrees Celsius.
According to MeT officials, humidity in air oscillated between 12 and 47 per cent.
Phalodi in Jodhpur district of Rajasthan was simmering as the mercury touched 47 degrees Celsius while blistering heatwave conditions continued unabated in the desert state, affecting normal life.
State capital Jaipur experienced the hottest day of the season with a maximum temperature of 43.7 degrees. Western regions of Rajasthan covering Churu, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Srigangangar, Jaisalmer and Barmer were continued to be in the grip of blistering heatwave and dust storm.

Churu recorded a maximum temperature of 45.4 degrees, followed by Kota 43.8, Bikaner and Sriganganagar 44.3 each, Jaisalmer and Pilani 43.5 each, and Jodhpur 42.9 degrees Celsius, the weather officials said.
Bhiwani sizzled at 41.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, while Karnal's maximum settled at 41.8 degrees Celsius. As the mercury started to climb abruptly since yesterday, Chandigarh residents experienced the season's hottest day at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
In Punjab's Amritsar, the maximum temperature stood at 42.5 degrees Celsius, while in Ludhiana it was 42 degrees Celsius.
