Heavy evening rains bring down temperature in Delhi

Heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds, lashed the national capital this evening, leading to a steep fall in mercury after the day temperature hovered close to 40 degrees Celsius.
According to the MeT department, one cm rainfall was recorded in the city between 8:30 and 9:30 PM. The showers were accompanied by strong winds which were measured up to 60 km per hour at the observatory.
Interestingly, there was no rain between 8:30 AM to 8:30 PM today.
Earlier, maximum temperature during the day was recorded at 39.3 deg C, one notch below normal. After the rains, mercury plummeted to 23 degrees Celsius, which was recorded at 9:30 PM.
The minimum temperature was registered two points below the normal level at 24.2 degrees Celsius.
The MeT department has predicted that maximum and minimum temperatures tomorrow are expected to remain around 40 and 25 degrees Celsius respectively.
