Heavy police deployed in Muzaffarnagar
Press Trust of India Muzaffarnagar Heavy police deployment has been made in Muzffarnagar in view of the first death anniversary of youths killed in Kawal village, following which communal riots had erupted in the district and adjoining areas.
DGP (Law and Order) Mukul Goel said family of the deceased has decided to commemorate their death anniversary by organizing a havan, which is expected to be attended by their relatives, in Malikpura village on August 28.
To maintain peace and order, 16 companies of para military forces have been deployed in the area. Besides extra police have been keeping tight vigil to avoid any untoward incident.
Tension had prevailed in Kawal village after three persons were killed over an eve-teasing incident in August last year, making it the epicenter of the riots in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas that claimed over 60 lives and left more than 40,000 homeless.
