Heavy rain forecast in northern Odisha

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in the northern region of Odisha and normal downpour in other areas due to upper air cyclonic circulation formed over the Bay of Bengal.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at one or two places over north Odisha during the next 24 hours, a fresh bulletin issued by IMD said adding, two upper air cyclonic circulation formed over West-Central and North-Eastern Bay of Bengal would trigger rainfall in the state in the next 48 hours.
Under the influence of these two cyclonic circulations, moderate rain and thundershower are most likely to occur at many places in the state, it added.
However, S C Sahu, director of IMD's regional centre, Bhubaneswar said the the rain condition may prevail after Durga Puja also.
IMD sources said rainfall has occurred at many places in Odisha with heavy rain at one or two places over south interior parts of the state.
The chief amount of rainfall was recorded at Baliguda (Kandhamal district) 7 cm, Malkangiri 6 cm, Bhubaneswar (Khurda district) 6cm, Khairamal (Dhenkanal district) 5 cm, Patnagarh (Bolangir district) 5 cm, Cuttack, Madanpur Rampur (Kalahandi district) 4 cm, Titlagarh (Bolangir district) 4 cm, Swam-patna (district Keonjhar) 3 cm, Athgarh (district Cuttack) 3 cm, Pipili (Puri district) 3 cm and Daitari (Keonjhar district) 3 cm.
