Heavy rain in parts of North, mercury dips

Widespread rain in parts of North India set the tone for the winter season as temperature in the region stayed several notches below the normal today.
Fatehgarh town of Uttar Pradesh recorded minimum temperature at 14.3 degree Celsius as most parts of Uttar Pradesh were lashed by rain today.
For the second day running, residents of Delhi woke up to a cold and pleasant morning while sky was partly cloudy.
According to Meteorological department, 1.6 mm rain was received in the last 24 hours till 8.30 AM this morning.
Minimum temperature was recorded at 19.6 degree while maximum settled at 30 degree.
In UP, moderate to heavy rain or thundershowers occurred at several places in the last 24 hours.

Maharajganj got 15 cm rain, Bansi, Pherenda and Regoli 12 cms each, Gorakhpur, Hata and Kakrahi 11 cm each, Birdghat 10 cm, Basti, Bansgoan and Domariaganj 9 cm each, Utraulla, Ayodhya, Chandradeepghat, Sardanagar and Mehadawal 8 each, according to the Meteorological department officials said.
Day temperature fell remarkably in Bareilly, Agra, Faizabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Moradabad and Meerut divisions.
It fell appreciably in Gorakhpur and Jhansi divisions.
Highest maximum temperature was recorded at 27.8 degree in Churk area of Sonbhadra district while lowest minimum temperature was 14.3 degree at Fatehgarh.
