Incessant rains since yesterday brought down day temperature drastically in the metropolis as well as in most parts of Gangetic West Bengal, which were reeling under a severe form of heatwave till Sunday.
Though the rain, resulting from a low pressure, brought much-needed respite from the heatwave, it led to disappointment for lakhs of cricket fans owing to the postponement of an IPL playoff match between hosts Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab.
The weather office has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places across Gangetic West Bengal and Bihar for tomorrow.
For Kolkata, the Met department has, however, predicted a few spells of light to moderate rain, thus keeping hopes alive for the IPL playoff match to be held on the reserve day tomorrow.
