Hero Honda Chowk, Sohna Road, Manesar, Udyog Vihar, Old Gurgaon Road and Rajeev Chowkwitnessed waterlogging and choked traffic movement for almost three hours after heavy rainfall between 3 and 5 PM.
"Gurgaon recorded 4 mm rains. Najafgarh drain was overflowing. Waterlogging was reported at Hero Honda chowk resulting in long vehicular pile up at the entire stretch of National Highway-8," T L Satyaprakash, Deputy Commissioner, Gurgaon, said.
People and office-goers returning to and from Gurgaon took to social media to share the traffic woes.
"The police took control of the situation and made the traffic movement smooth at Hero Honda Chowk. The motorists also welcomed the police assistance and coordinative behavior between the senior officials with hundreds policemen including DCP traffic, ACPs heading the teams," said Hawa Singh, PRO of Gurgaon Police.
The traffic jam comes despite several measures announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar after the July-28 traffic gridlock that had stretched for several hours overnight.
