Heavy rains in Mullaperiyar catchment areas

Heavy rains lashed catchment areas of Mullaperiyar Dam since last night, leading copious inflow of 1,352 cusecs.
The water level in the dam, which irrigates southern districts in Tamil Nadu, increased from 112.39 ft to 113.39 ft, PWD officials said.
Various parts of Theni District, bordering Kerala, including Uthamapalayam and Veerapandi also received heavy rains last night and this morning, they said.
