The Safdarjung observatory, the reading of which is considered the official figure for the city, recorded 10.1 mm rainfall between 8.30 AM and 5.30 PM.
Weather stations at Palam, Ridge, Ayanagar and Lodhi Road recorded 64 mm, 10.2, 14.4 and 41 mm rainfall during the same period.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 29.5 degrees Celsius, five notches below the season's average while the minimum temperature settled at 26.5 degrees, a notch below normal for this time of the year.
"The skies will be partly cloudy. Heavy rain is likely to occur in several parts of the city. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover at 30 and 24 degrees," the official said.
The continuous downpour throughout the day led to water logging in several areas and triggered traffic snarls in various intersections and busy roundabouts in the city.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 33.5 and 26 degrees Celsius respectively.
