Heavy rains lash Himachal

Several parts of Himachal Pradesh were lashed by heavy rains today, while a cloudburst caused a massive soil erosion in Pangi tribal areas of Chamba district.
Large chunks of land were washed away and crops and property suffered massive damage due to the cloudburst in Tai village in remote tribal area of Pangi, panchayat president Kalyan Singh said.
The exact loss to crops, property and cattle are yet to be ascertained, he said.
Jogindernagar in Mandi district was the wettest in the region with 89 mm of rains, while Dharamsala recorded 68 mm rainfall followed by Sunni Bhajji at 40 mm, Kufri 12 mm, Shimla 7 mm and Manali 6 mm.

The heavy rains brought down the maximum temperatures by 2 to 5 degrees across the state.
The maximum temperature dropped from 40.4 deg C to 36.6 deg C at Una.
Elsewhere, Bhuntar settled at a high of 31.4 deg C, it was 31.1 deg C in Sundernagar, 30.0 deg C in Solan, 28.5 deg C in Nahan, 25.5 deg C in Shimla and 25.2 deg C in Dharamsala.
