Heavy rains lash HP; 3 killed in incidents of house collapse

Three persons died in incidents of house collapse here and Kangra district due to heavy rains while 30 houses and 35 cowsheds were damaged in Himachal Pradesh during past 24 hours, officials said.
Over a dozen cattle were also killed in the incident.
Two persons were killed and six others were injured when a HRTC building collapsed at Theog here due to heavy rains, Additional District Magistrate Sunil Sharma said.
Meanwhile a woman died when her Kachha house collapsed at Jaisinghpur in Kangra district, the officials said.
About 140 roads including 68 roads in Mandi circle alone were closed due to landslides while heavy rains lashed parts of Mandi, Kangra and Shimla districts, they said.
Sarkaghat received 187 mm of rains in the past 24 hours and was the wettest in the region followed by Gohar 84 mm, Sunni Bhajji 83 mm, Amb 82 mm, Guler 80 mm, Nadaun 74 mm, Jubbar Hatti and Dharamshala 69 mm each, Aghar 67 mm, Kandaghat 63 mm, Arki 58 mm, Naina Devi 56 mm, Bharari and Solan 55 mm each, Nagrota Suriyan and Berthin 50 mm each, Una 49 mm, Bhoranj 46 mm and Shimla, Dharampur, Hamirpur, Sujanpur Tira and Ghumarwin 45 mm each, Dehra Gopipur and Mehre 44 mm each and Jogindernagar 40 mm.

There was no significant change in the minimum temperatures and Manali was coldest with a low of 13 degrees Celsius followed by Mandi 14.2 degrees Celsius, Keylong and Kalpa 15. 4 degrees Celsius while the famous tourist resorts of Shimla and Dharamshala recorded minimum temperature at 16.9 degrees Celsius and 17.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
There was marginal increase in the maximum temperatures and Una was hottest recording a high of 33.2 degrees Celsius followed by Kangra 31.9, Bhuntar 31.2, Sundernagar 30.5, Solan 26, Nahan 24.3, Kalpa 22.8 and Shimla 22.5 degrees Celsius.
In Bilaspur, six kuccha houses and six cowsheds were partially damaged due to heavy rainfall.
The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains in lower and mid hills on August 8 and predicted wet spell in the region for next six days up to August 10.
