The local MeT Office said Southwest Monsoon had already withdrawn from Punjab while it had partially withdrawn from Haryana and the sudden showers here were caused by a western disturbance, which had been active over Jammu and Kashmir.
The day was warm here and maximum temperature settled at 33.4 deg C. Sharp showers lasting for close to 80 minutes at some places, particularly the northern and central sectors, resulted in water-logging at many areas.
The showers also caused traffic snarls on several roads including the busy Chandigarh-Zirakpur highway.
