Heavy to very heavy rain forecast in Odisha

Heavy to very heavy rains together with gusty surface winds were likely to lash some places of Odisha under the impact of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal region.
The low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Gangetic West Bengal and north Odisha remained practically stationary over the same area during the day, the MET office said today.
While rain and thundershower would occur at most places over Odisha under the impact of the low pressure, heavy to very heavy rainfall might occur at one or two places over south Odisha while there would be heavy rainfall at one or two places over north Odisha during the next 48 hours, the MET office said.

Gusty surface wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph might prevail along and off Odisha coast, it said, adding that fishermen were advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
