"Heavy to very heavy rain very likely to occur at a few places over Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Coochbehar, Alipurduar, Kalimpong districts with extremely heavy rain at Alipurduar and Coochbehar of Sub-Himalayan West Bengal," the Met department forecast said.
Such weather conditions are likely to continue till August 13 in these districts, with the intensity likely to further increase in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong on August 11 and 12, which may also receive extremely heavy rain alongwith Coochbehar and Alipurduar, it said.
The monsoon trough is likely to remain subdued in the southern districts of the state in Gangetic West Bengal, which may receive one or two spells of rain or thundershower till August 12.
Precipitation in Gangetic West Bengal is likely to increase from August 13, when it may receive heavy rain, the Met department said.
