Coochbehar was the wettest among the five Sub-Himalayan districts which also comprise Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar.
Coochbehar received 246.6 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 AM today, the Met department said.
Jalpaiguri recorded 77.6 mm precipitation during the same period.
The weatherman forecast heavy to very heavy rain with isolated extremely heavy falls in these five districts till August 14 and also warned that heavy rain may continue to affect these districts for another three days.
The Met department has, however, said that the districts of Birbhum, Murshidabad and Nadia may receive isolated heavy rainfall till tomorrow morning.
The metropolis, which received 30 mm rainfall in 24 hours till this morning, scored the highest in rainfall count in the southern part of the state with other districts recording little or no precipitation during the period.
