A 70-year-old hedge fund founder has been found shot dead inside his Manhattan apartment.
Thomas Gilbert was shot in the head at his Beekman Place residence on the East Side yesterday, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were questioning his 30-year-old son, Thomas Gilbert, Jr, today. No charges have been filed.
It was not immediately known if he had a lawyer.
Police said a handgun was found near the body. The elder Gilbert founded Wainscott Capital Partners Fund in 2011.
The fund, which focuses on biotech and health care industries, has USD 200 million in assets.
Industry publication Hedge Fund Alert said in an August 2013 article that the fund had a net return of nearly 25 percent in 2012.
