Marathi theatre and TV actress Supriya Pathare today claimed she was held "captive" for three months by a producer in Rajasthan during the shooting of a film and was rescued at the intervention of late Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.
Addressing "Mahila Suraksha Parisanvad" (seminar on women's safety) at an auditorium here, the actress alleged how she was deceived into acting for a movie in Rajasthan by the producer concerned whose name she did not disclose.
"I was alone at the shooting from here. ....Then for the next three months, he made me act at gun point," she said without mentioning the exact location where the incident had taken place.
Pathare said she was held "captive" on the premises of the producer and was allowed to talk to her family only using landline phone.
"They asked me not to speak in Marathi. But somehow I managed to convey the SoS to my sister over phone in code language," she said.
Pathare said her family members in Mumbai then rushed to the Sena founder for help who got in touch with senior police officers in Rajastan.
"One day, as many as 50 constables from Rajasthan Police arrived at the spot asking for me. I later came to know from them that Balasaheb had intervened in the matter. I then travelled 20 hours without a break and reached Surat...Believe me with just Rs. 12 left with me," she said, adding that she will always remain indebted to Thackeray for his help.
However, she did not reveal the motive of the producer behind the incident.
