French World Cup winning striker Thierry Henry may look at home in the BBC studio but judging by the reaction to a joke about an infamous handball incident he should scrap any plans he may have had of a holiday home in Ireland.
The 36-year-old is still a villain in the eyes of the Irish after his handball set up William Gallas to score the decisive goal in their 2010 World Cup play-off with Ireland.
Henry, who enjoyed a successful club career with both Arsenal and Barcelona, has never apologised for the handball and many thought it was sweet revenge when the French team returned in disgrace from the 2010 finals after the first round.
The incident reared its head out of the blue during half-time of the England v Italy World Cup Group D game on Saturday when Henry defended English defender Glen Johnson who the Italians thought had handled the ball in the penalty area.
Presenter and former England striker Gary Lineker, himself a victim of an infamous handball incident when Diego Maradona said his first goal in their 1986 World Cup quarter-final was scored by the 'Hand of God', asked him jokingly: "Ever get away with a handball Thierry?"
Henry, who back in February in a Twitter question and answer session refused to answer 156 questions revolving round handballs, laughed and said: "no, never".
However, his light-hearted reply fell flat in Ireland, who this time round didn't even reach the play-offs for the finals.
