Condemning the "heinous" Paris terror strike, Union minister Najma Heptulla today said a "handful of crazy" people are "spoiling" the name of the Muslim community and asked its members to work towards a peaceful world by defeating the designs of the "misguided" ones.

Minority Affairs Minister Heptulla said she witnessed terrorism from "close quarters" and stated that she could feel the agony of those affected in the Paris carnage.

"A few misguided people, a few and a handful of culprits are making the lives of rest of the peace-loving Muslims in the world difficult. I feel ashamed that some people of my community are perpetrators of such heinous crime," she said.

"I call upon entire peace-loving Muslim community to come forward, not only in condemning these acts, but working towards a peaceful world," Heptulla added.

The minister also took to micro-blogging site Twitter, saying "I'm ashamed that a handful of crazy people are spoiling name of Muslims. Allah will not forgive them for killing innocent people in Paris."

Heptulla cited her personal "moments of agony" during three terror incidents, including 2001 Parliament attack in India and 9/11 strike in US.

"When the 9/11 took place, I was in Burkina Faso. I did not know that my daughter worked in the (New York) building which fell down (in the attack). For two hours, till my daughter rang me up, I was living in an agony.

"So, I know how those people (in Paris) are living. Thank god, my daughter was saved," she said.

She also recalled the Parliament attack, which she said, took place only 30 metres away from where she was sitting.

At least 129 were people and 352 wounded, including 99 critically, were the first ever suicide bombings on French soil. Islamic State group yesterday had claimed responsibility for the episode.
