Although no arrests have been made, a case under Sections 457 (break-in) and 380 (theft) of IPC has been registered in this regard, police said today.
"Heritage furniture has been stolen from the Sector-10 College of Arts. The furniture includes 15 chairs and one table," said Chandigarh Police, Sector 3, SHO, Neeraj Sarna.
The theft occurred last night despite guards being posted outside the storeroom. The guards are being questioned by the police, Sarna said, adding, however, that nobody has been arrested so far in the case.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to receive the French President here on January 24.
Although no official confirmation has been received, Hollande is likely to visit the Capitol Complex, Rock Garden and the Sector-10 museum.
The Capitol complex comprises the Secretariat, high court and the Assembly, which was designed by eminent French architect Le Corbusier.
