A haul of 5kg of heroin, worth Rs 25 crore on the international market, was recovered near the Indo-Pakistan border by security personnel here.
The drug was pushed to India from Pakistan, said RPS Jaswal, the DIG of Border Security Force, whose personnel last night seized the contraband in the Bhainian Border Outpost area in Amritsar sector.
Security personnel had received inputs regarding attempts at smuggling in the said outpost area, based on which a search operation was carried out near the fencing there along the border.
The search yielded five packets of heroin which had been concealed in a cement pipe placed near a diesel tubewell inside Indian territory, at a distance of approximately 100m from the International Boundary.
