Heroin worth Rs 30 crore seized in Punjab

Punjab police seized six kilogram heroin worth Rs 30 crore following the interrogation of a prisoner lodged in Amritsar Central Jail.
Police today said the drug was recovered last night following the interrogation of Kuldeep Singh, a resident of Marri Kamboki village in Tarn Taran district.
The accused is lodged in the Amritsar Central Jail in connection with a criminal case registered in 2013. He was brought here on production warrant.
His disclosure statement led to the recovery of 6 Kgs of heroin which he had kept concealed at a secluded place near his village. Police said.
They said the preliminary questioning of the accused has revealed that he was in touch with Pakistan-based heroin smugglers and some notorious Indian smugglers since 2012.
The recovered consignment of heroin was retrieved by the accused and his associates in August/September 2013 from Ferozpur sector but he was unable to dispose off the same as some members of gang were arrested by police.
Police have registered an FIR in this regard and have launched a probe into the matter.
