Heroine of 90s takes on school capitation system

Reliving the phase when they decided against paying through the nose for enrolling her toddler to an elite school, Prosenjit's on-screen 'masala jodi of the 90s' Rachana Banerjee says education can't be equalled with fat donations even now.
In celluloid crusador Shiboprosad Mukhopadhyay and Nandita Roy's 'Ramdhanu', where she acts her maternal self as a doting teacher of the on-screen character of cute Akashneel, Rachana says, "The script is a mirror as donations for getting your ward to the one and only institution and get him groomed beforehand have become every parent's nightmare."
Rachana, having given a string of blockbusters with Tollywood's uncrowned king at that age of formula, brawny, mass based films running the roost, says "I had been looking for long for such a script like Ramdhanu."

"Having personally known grooming school teachers, where the child is tutored for interviews as well as parents, it was easier for me do my own little research and speak with conviction when my on-screen character implores the guardians to not run after institutions having turned big brand names," the present co-host with Prosenjit in the 'Tumi Je Amar' reality show on a popular tv channel, said.
Rachana, who had earlier starred in hugely popular 'Didi number one' in the same channel, said "Despite being a fan of Sibu's (Shiboprosad) films, I had turned down his previous three film offers as I was cagey about the role."

But Ramdhanu, tackling headlong the elite school admission system for children, was the right vehicle being the first film uncovering this malaise, she said.
Ramdhanu, the second film on education after 'Ichhe' on how high career expectations crush the sensibilities of a teenager, stars the director himself.
"I saw how people perceived their world having crushed down if the child flunks in admission test and how playschools are playing on the sentiment of the parents. Here I play one such concerned father, not having been exposed to western education and none but Rachana could fit in because of her poise, grace. Also she too is a mother," Shiboprosad said.
