Hi-tech control room for Varanasi; crime branch for 48 others

Uttar Pradesh government will set up hi-tech control rooms in Varanasi and Agra districts besides setting up crime branch teams in 48 districts of the state, officials said today.
"State of the art modern police control rooms will be set up in Varanasi and Agra districts to make police force more effective and reduce its response time," Chief Secretary Alok Rajan said at a review meeting.
"Besides this, crime branch will also be constituted in 48 districts", he said.
According to Ranjan, control rooms were launched by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav in Kanpur and Lucknow and they are ready in Allabahad and Ghaziabad, which will start soon.
"In the first phase, crime branch has been constituted in 14 districts while work is going on in 48 districts to constitute them. In the last phase, 13 more districts will also get crime branch", he said.
The officers also reviewed measures to ensure security to women and check crime against them.
"A women cell has been constituted in the state. It is working in direction of providing security to women and taking up issues related to them," Ranjan said.
At the meeting, the officials informed that Rs 44.29 crore have been sanctioned to the family members of 806 persons of the state who went missing in 2013 Uttarakhand deluge.
