"Our Advanced Life Detector sends out Electromagnetic waves and it alerts (us) if it detects life," NDRF Commandant M K Verma supervising rescue work at the site told PTI.
The "camera with extended probe" which looks like a rod could be inserted into openings and the device would send images from beneath. The visuals can be seen on a square shaped box mounted on the rod.
Seismic Sensors can capture vibrations in earth, wall or debris and through microphones it would also resonate sounds of humans.
Thermal Imaging Cameras send out infrared rays which could penetrate rubble, concrete or other obstacles and images can be seen on the screen on such cameras.
"It is not the equipment alone. The dedicated personnel of several State agencies including the NDRF, Fire and Rescue, Police commandos and Home Guards are working relentlessly to rescue the victims", he said.
