High Command to decide tickets for sitting ministers: Kamat

Tickets to contest upcoming Assembly polls in Rajasthan would be given to sitting Ministers and others on the basis of selections made by a screening committee and then by the Congress high command, an AICC official said today.
Replying to a question on whether sitting Ministers would be given tickets to contest the polls slated for later this year, AICC General Secretary Gurudas Kamat said, "It would have to be decided through a proper channel of screening committee and then by the party high command."
Kamat, who is in-charge of party affairs in Rajasthan, held a day-long meeting at Khasa Kothi here with about 25 cabinet and state ministers, who gave him feedback about the party's position in the state.

Most of the ministers assured him that the Congress would again form the government in the state, Kamat told reporters.
On BJP leaders approaching Lokayukta and the Governor with complaints against the Gehlot government, Kamat said the party had a habit of gaining "artificial popularity" on any issue which might not be related to Congress or the government.
When contacted, state Minister Babulal Nagar said he told Kamat that, "If tickets are given to winning candidates, party would get overwhelming majority of 130 out of 200 seats."
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and PCC President Dr Chandrabhan are likely to meet party Vice President Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on July 12, sources said.
