The Allahabad High Court today dismissed a writ petition of suspended IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur challenging the departmental inquiry being conducted against him by the Chairman of UP Police Recruitment Board.
A division bench of justice Dinesh Maheshwari and justice Rakesh Srivastava passed the order on the petition and observed that there was no need to interfere in the matter at this stage, said Additional Advocate General Bulbul Godiyal.
Thakur submitted that he has filed a petition in this matter before the Central Administrative Tribunal, Lucknow, where CAT directed the union and state government to file detailed replies.
He said that hence there was a need to stop any further proceedings till the final order of CAT, because in case the Tribunal finally quashes the appointment of the inquiry officer, the entire process would become futile and vitiated.
On behalf of the state government, Bulbul Godiyal contended that the petitioner's matter was pending before CAT, hence this petition was not maintainable and liable to be dismissed.
The court, after hearing the arguments, dismissed the writ petition.
