A high decibel campaign for the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram and by-poll to the Aizawl West-I seat to be held on Thursday, ended at five pm Tuesday, chief electoral officer Ashish Kundra said.
The CEO said public meetings, street campaign, publication of advertisements, press conferences by candidates and political leaders, interviews and panel discussions in the electronic media, musical concert or any form of gathering to canvass has been completely prohibited after the campaign ended.
Six candidates are in the fray for the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat while it would a triangular contest in the Aizawl West - I assembly by-poll.
Those contesting the Lok Sabha polls are - C Lalrosanga of the ruling Mizo National Front (MNF), Zoram People's Forum (ZPM) and the Congress combine's common candidate Lalnghinglova Hmar (Independent), Nirupam Chakma of the BJP, TBC Lalvenchhunga of People's Representation for Identity and Status of Mizoram (PRISM) and two independents - Lalhriatrenga Chhangte and Lalthlamuani.
Zothantluanga of the MNF, independent nominee Lalbuanga Sailo, sponsored by the ZPM-Congress combine and Rev Zaichhawna Hlawndo of 'Zoram Thar' were contesting the Aizawl West - I by-election.
Over 7.85 lakh voters (4,02,408 female and 3,81,991 male voters) would exercise franchise on April 11 to elect one Lok Sabha member and one member of the state legislature.
While the electorate would cast their votes at 1,175 polling stations across the state, 15 special polling stations have been established at Mizoram-Tripura border Kanhmun village where 12,081 Bru voters lodged in the six relief camps in neighbouring North Tripura district would cast their votes on polling day.

International borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh have been sealed by orders of the deputy commissioners of the districts adjoining the two countries so as to ensure that people and commodities that could disturb peaceful election process during polling.
Kundra said that 117 polling stations, known as 'pink polling stations' would be manned by women only and only one polling station in southernmost Lawngtlai district - Gegaguluksura has been classified as 'critical polling station'.
